Introduction to Canine First Aid
Welcome to the Canine First Aid Course. We start with a short introduction and course overview before discussing what Pet First Aid is and why we need it as well as Vets and learn your role as a first aider, and when veterinary care is required. You will learn how to keep your pet safe in an emergency, and how to pet-proof your home. We will look at how pets show pain, and how to check your pet's health, including taking a pulse and pet first aid kits.
CPR, Accidents and First Aid
In this next section we discuss breathing and Respiratory problems, an introduction to CPR for pets, as well how to perform CPR with a practical demonstration. You will learn about drowning and treatment. You will also learn how to deal with Shock and how to treat fractures and spinal injuries, including the safe moving of an injured dog.
Medical Conditions
In the following set of videos, you will learn about the different types of bleeds and their treatment including the use of Collaclot, bandages and Haemocap. We also look at problems relating to their paws, nail and claw injuries. As well as other injuries relating to their eyes, ears, tail, how to bandage and the aftercare. Then onto choking in animals and other signs and symptoms of the different medical conditions that affect our pets, such as heatstroke, hypothermia, treating dehydration, seizures and epilepsy, diabetes including insects such as ticks, fleas, insect stings and snack bites.

Now we look at older dogs and Brachycephalic dog breeds.
Summary of Pet First Aid
Finally, in this last section, we will look at how Fireworks and Thunderstorms affect our dogs, followed by a short course summary which provides important information on how to take the final test, print your certificate of completion, and access other course resources.
